Hi there! I’m Kohen, and I am an intern software engineer at Hireology. This year has been my first time as an intern, so I have quite a few lessons learned that could help other interns with their pre-interview prep! Here are some tips for interviewing so you’re more likely to get your dream internship offer this summer.
First off, let’s go over how interviews work.. typically they follow these steps: screening phone interview technical

12 Ways to Save Money on Yelp: Software Engineer Intern’s
– Search for a coupon code before you book your reservation, or ask if they have any coupons available when booking. (The restaurant might give discounts)
– Skip dessert and save $20-$30 per person. Desserts are expensive, especially in high end restaurants where it’s one of the few things that is still made by hand! You can always order ice cream at home later anyway 🙂
– Avoid eating out late night. Restaurants often charge more for dinner service than lunchtime because they know people will opt for an evening meal over something lighter from their desk during daylight hours.
– Split the bill with your friends. Table splitting is commonplace in many cultures, and it’s a great way to spend less on food without sacrificing ambiance or service quality. Splitting dishes also means you get more variety because there are often at least two sides of the menu that will suit your taste buds!
– Order water instead of an expensive drink from the bar when dining out with friends. You don’t want to be sunk by one round’s worth of drinks before dinner even starts 🙂 And if you do like cocktails – order something easy for them to make (like vodka tonic) rather than asking for complicated recipes so they can save money too! Or better yet: BYOB and enjoy the savings on the bar tab.
– Bundle your packages together for faster, cheaper shipping!
– Shop at Trader Joe’s or Aldi – these stores have great prices and quality offerings in a pinch or when you need staples on hand (like bananas).
– Check out Groupon to find deals on just about anything from tickets to restaurants to classes with local businesses. You never know what kind of discounts they may be hiding until you look! It only takes seconds too so it’s worth checking out before buying that item full price. “Anybody can get good food at an expensive restaurant.” Frank Sinatra said this and he knows what he is talking about.. Ordering something off the menu will be cheaper than ordering a la carte.
– Check the clothing section for the size you need and then buy it on Amazon! You can get some amazing deals and free shipping if you have Prime or are willing to spend $25 with your order. The shipping time is usually fairly quick too so this is a great option if you’re in a pinch to find something last minute.
“If I had my way, every day would be Casual Friday.” Fridays don’t count as casual days anymore but that doesn’t mean we can’t dress like it’s our holiday everyday (or close enough). So go ahead: wear jeans all week long – even when going out on Monday night.. And double up by pairing them with flats instead of heels.
– Take your lunch to work with you instead of buying it at the deli or bagel shop! This will not only save you money but also time – and let’s be real, who doesn’t want more hours in their day?
You can still order food on Yelp for delivery; however, we recommend finding a restaurant that isn’t too far away from your office so that you don’t have to spend all morning waiting around for them to deliver. And if they’re close enough – try walking there (or biking) and getting some fresh air along the way! It’ll make those calories worth every penny.
