The Vikings
Annette Bening stars as Lagertha, a Viking warrior who is not only fierce and fearless but also pragmatic. This series follows her life starting from when she was married off to the much older Earl Haraldson (played by Gabriel Byrne) in order to cement an alliance between two warring clans; through tumultuous power struggles with other clan members on how best to deal with changing political alliances, wars and marriages; all the way down to modern day Minnesota where she has finally found some measure of peace.
This show centers around Ragnar’s quest for fame throughout Europe after his brother dies at sea, so he can claim his rightful place as ruler of Kattegat. The story covers both their journeys abroad and Ragnar’s family life at home.
This series follows the story of a young woman, Siggy Haraldsdottir, who is also on a quest for fame and glory as she fights off dark forces and inner demons to save her town from destruction. The show portrays how she learns what it takes to be true hero in comparison with Ragnar Lothbrok (from Vikings) who is often seen as an invincible force throughout much of his adventures elsewhere. It was created by David S. Goyer- best known for writing Batman Begins and Man Of Steel- so you know that this one will be filled with plenty of action scenes!
