I’m going to be honest with you. I’m a little embarrassed about that since I’m going to be using a few of my own examples here. I spent an entire summer in 2014 working in digital marketing. I was in charge of a team of 3 full time employees and a handful of freelancers. In that time, I got a full-time offer from a large company in the same field and I took it.
It’s something that has been a source of frustration for people who work in the world of technology, online marketing, and web development. There is a tendency to assume that the “big guys” have all the answers, but actually they’re all a long way behind.

The reason I’ve always been a digital marketing manager is because I’ve always been fascinated by marketing. In fact, I was always the top digital marketing manager at a startup company in college. That job was great, but the company I was at was not. I had a lot to learn, and it took me a long time to really come to terms with that. I spent a lot of time wondering what I could do to make my position and my company more successful.
After many years working in marketing, I finally decided to take the plunge and get a full-time, real-life position. I began getting a lot more experience, and was accepted by a fairly big company. The day I was hired I had a lot of friends from the company that I was with, and they all came to the office to meet me. I was excited, but I was nervous. I had a lot to learn and a lot of new things to learn.
Well, the new job is great because I can finally focus on learning. I’m working everyday to become the best at what I do. And I have a lot of friends in marketing. So, it’s a win-win situation. I’m making a lot of money (the company I work for pays a competitive salary) and I’m learning a new skill.
