Single channel marketeers are those who manage communication effectively. They take the time to clearly define the overall message, target the audience, and make sure each individual piece of the communication is clear and concise.
What makes a good single channel marketer? I think they’re not necessarily people who are good copywriters, but people who know exactly what the company is trying to communicate to the public. They are also very quick to send out media releases, and if possible, provide clear answers to viewer questions.
The problem with single channel marketing is that it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle. It’s easy to lose sight of what your company is trying to convey and to focus on the marketing and not the message itself. To illustrate this point, I was recently asked to lead an event at my company’s offices in New York City. I wanted to make a point about the importance of communication in running a company. I was tasked with creating a series of media releases to be distributed to the public.
The problem is that once you have a “message” to convey, you can’t really focus on the message itself. If you are trying to tell your audience something new and interesting about your company, that is probably a good thing. But if you’re doing it to make an emotional connection with your audience, then you have a lot of work to do. That’s where single channel marketing shines.
There are multiple ways to convey your message and you can do them as much as you like, but people are going to pick the ones that they believe you should be doing. And for those particular reasons, that is where it shines.
One of the best examples of single channel marketing is from the movie The Social Network. Even though the movie was not a good example, single channel marketing is a really cool thing.
Its only purpose in the movie is to get Zuckerberg to agree that Facebook will allow any company to run advertisements on its site. And to make sure that it does, Zuckerberg has to make a few very important decisions. First, he decides who to give the power to. Next, he decides how to run the site. And then he decides how to get the advertisements to work. A perfect example of single channel marketing.
Single channel marketing is a great way to spread the word to a large audience. You can also use it to market your brand to a new audience. If you want people to know “You can do your own marketing” and “It’s better than putting a paid ad in the paper” then single channel marketing is right up your alley.

Companies are starting to realize that if they want to succeed in online marketing, they need to give their products a face that’s recognizable, but not obnoxious. A lot of the newer, smaller players are beginning to follow that model. This is because companies often don’t know which product the consumer will be buying and thus end up with a product that looks more like an ad than a product.
