I’ve been living in Florida for about 3 years now, and I’m the southern technology consultant at my company. I am a Florida native, but I have lived in DC for 15 years.
Ive spent a few years in Orlando, Tampa, and surrounding areas, but I am a Virginia native. I moved to Florida on a whim to do a job in a town with a lot of tech companies and have lived here for the past 3 years.
Ive been building my own web presence for almost 8 years, and Im always trying to get people to link to our site. I get a lot of emails asking about how to “start an email list” or “start up a blog.” I have never really answered this question, because I don’t really know what a blog is. I do know what an email list is though. You can do a lot with email lists.
I just finished two awesome courses on selling your blog. They covered all the basics of email list building, but also some of the ins and outs of blogging, marketing, and the art of email marketing. I think they are a great resource for anyone looking to get started on email list building.
One thing that I think is missing from email list building is a bit of a ‘tutorial’ on how to do it the right way. Many companies are putting out a lot of information about what to do, but they are usually left to work it out on their own. The good news is that there are some great tools out there that will show you exactly what you need to do.
We recently had our new customers come in for an all-day tutorial on email marketing. They were really impressed with our presentation and the information we gave them. After that we held a couple of webinar style sessions where we discussed the ways in which we can use the tools we’ve developed for our email marketing. One of the more popular things we had people do was to simply click on a link in our emails and see how it works.
We have a lot of people that we work with who are involved in startups. They are all really eager to get started with us but a lot of them don’t really understand the ins and outs of what we do. We’re always trying to teach them about the tools so they can get up and running on their own without having to spend time getting to know our clients.
This is a good thing. As a small business, you’re constantly working to develop your skills. You make mistakes and get frustrated, but you don’t abandon ship. A lack of self-awareness is a huge challenge to working with clients, and one that you can only truly overcome by learning about the tools you use.
The good news is that the consultants we met at our conference are in good hands. We’ve had some great feedback from the attendees, and the consultants we hired are very helpful. They are also very open to trying new things.
We’re always grateful when our clients are open to trying new things. One of the challenges in working with consultants is to get their perspective on what a business would be like in the future, if they did something new, and not how it was in the past. We work with many consultants and we have found that their ideas often come from the heart. They are passionate about what they do, and they are open to trying new things.
