It’s a common occurrence to find yourself in a sales call with a tech recruiter. You’ve been sent to represent a company interested in getting into the tech world. You’re nervous. You’ve never done sales, and you’re worried about the pitch. You know that it’s a sales pitch and you’re supposed to make sure that you’re not asking a sales question.
I know this because Ive been doing tech sales for a while now and this is one of the only times when I have had some success with it. It goes like this: A recruiter comes into my office with a sales email. I read it and I smile and nod like I mean it. I turn my phone’s light on. I start typing. I say, “Hey, this is Jim.
Jim is the CEO of the recruiting agency we were talking about earlier, and he just sent an email out with a sales question. I open it up and read it, and I start typing. I say, Hey, this is Jim.
The recruiter says something like, “I’ll get back to you,” and goes back to his emails. The sales pitch is over. I’ve been asked for over a thousand dollars to help with this. The recruiter asks me to send him my resume, and he says he’ll send me a call.
It’s a pretty easy question. There are many reasons why someone might be interested in an information technology job, but the two biggest reasons in my opinion are: You have to be able to do your job and you have to be good at that job. In the real world, people who are good at the job are in demand, so the odds of getting hired in any given job are pretty good. However, the same isn’t true online.
If you know your job, you can find people who are more than qualified to do it. That’s how recruitment happens. However, you dont have to be a jack-of-all-trades. You can be a jack-of-one-trades, and that is, if you know your job, you can find people who can do it and be good at it.

I’ve seen one recruiter who was a jack-of-all-trades and a jack-of-one-trades. I did the job and found a guy who could help me with my job. I’ve seen many a recruiter who is a jack of one trade and a jack of many trades. You can be pretty good at anything you do.
The problem is that you have to be good at one thing for a job to be worth the time and energy it takes to find and hire you. How many times have you heard that it takes 3 months and 40 interviews to find someone who is a good fit for your company. Well, at least that doesnt seem to have happened to me. In fact, the last couple of jobs I worked on were people who were pretty good at what they did and had great potential.
I know my resume is pretty good for someone who just finished college, but it’s not great for someone who is looking to make a real living. Like many fields in technology, sales is a lot more competitive than its competitors. The problem is that there are a lot of job titles that are so common that a potential new hire can make a living being a sales person.
